Disconnect to Connect: Personal Fashion

Images by Alison Wynn

Coat: All Saints; Leggings: BCBG; Inner Black top: Complex Geometry; Red Sweater: Thrifted; Head Scarf: Irregular Choices; Cross Necklace: Pureville; Shoes: Underground UK

New Uniform! This one. In love with the crazy zippers on this sweater I found at a thrift store in the desert in California. Totally worth every penny. And this cross necklace, as I had mentioned in an earlier post, I found at Pop Souk. I love my unique finds of fashion. A closet full of them is all I want.

So halloween and NYC Marathon got cancelled due to hurricane sandy in NYC. Which was a bummer but Sandy was no joke and I support the cancellations of both events as the city resources are seriously needed to manage the sandy after effects. I am just glad that my work is back in action from tomorrow and I can get back to my routine. For such a free spirit, its unbelievable now accustomed to a routine I am. Don't know if I will ever be okay with not working. Also daytime telly is terrible! So no incentive.

How is it going with you guys? Give me updates!

Blue Moon: Personal Fashion

Images by Surfaraz Maner

Dress: Complex Geometry; Skirt: Too old to remember; Shoes: MoonSpoon Salon; Socks: Disegual; Hat: Gift store at Hershey Park; Sunglasses: Gucci; Necklace: All Saints

I found this Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 looking hat at an amusement park gift store. My dad thought I was crazy, I thought I got lucky. I did, didn't I?

Layered my asymmetrical kerchief skirt with this complex geometry top. I like the blue peaking in different shapes from below the dress.

Apart from that, I just have to thank all you people out there who visit this blog. The iPhone covers so far have been a great hit and I can feel the love like never before! Also, just the comments, responses, likes, retweets, all make a huge impact and I love knowing that someone out there is reading / looking at my work. I love my life because of you!

Chemical Processing: Personal Fashion

Images by Jackie Russo

Dress: Complex Geometry; Leather Leggings: BCBG; Hat: Bloomingdales; Cat Skull Necklace: Custom made by OS accessories; Creepers: Underground UK; Jacket: All Saints

That guy in the military long jacket on his skate board is my favorite part of this shoot. His look was such a contradiction to his activity, it worked perfectly with the DSM philosophy.

I saw this kind of chemical processing of images done by a photog friend Wayne [who shot this for DSM earlier] and wanted to try it one time on DSM. Jackie pulled this rabbit out of her hat and I am beyond excited with the result. Art, I say, is so fulfilling.

Am in love with my custom cat and bird skull necklace from OS accessories. It's heavy but totally worth it. Don't worry they are not real skulls, they are made out of some high quality polyurethane. But yeah this necklace did have all eyes rolling at me during fashion week and I loved it. It's fun for me to know in my head that people think I am a "Bad-ass" by looking at my attire when in fact I am quite the opposite. So much so that I can't even watch a trailer of Paranormal activity in passing or else will have to sleep with my lights on the entire night..lol..

Shhh.... No one needs to know.

Take These Broken Wings: Personal Fashion

Images by Ben Taylor

Leather Leggings: BCBG; Top: Complex Geometry; Leather Jacket: Versace for H&M; Shoes: Moonspoon Salon; Necklace: Bosquejo

I saw this location on one of my friend's facebook page and had to instantly ask what it was. She explained that it was an interactive art space created in an abandoned lot in manhattan to promote community building and education. The project is called Project for Empty Space. Project For Empty Space, is a non-profit organization, founded by Meenakshi Thirukode and Jasmine Wahi and is a seriously cool space to experience. Go check it out at 181 Stanton St, NYC.

My leather leggings and the Complex Geometry top are like my uniform in the winter. Seriously, my top has faded to a grey by now with the constant laundering. I can't get enough of my Moonspoons and honestly they get some serious attention on the street. SERIOUS!!

While we were shooting, a family found a parking spot right in front of the space and out of the car came these two 4-5 yr old boys. "Hey look. Dark Angel. Whow, Are you dark angel? What are you doing there? Is that your cage? Can you come out of there? Why are you locked in? Why are you a dark angel? Are for real?" I had to calm the boys down by saying that I was not for real and not going to hurt them and that I was just playing Halloween with my friend to take some pictures for a school project. LOL... I hope they can sleep tonight!

Every time we shoot, some comic experience like this always happens. Just what makes the whole project so much more interesting. Reactions of people around you is such a spontaneous unexpected element.

What did everyone do over the weekend?

Light Up My Life: Personal Fashion

Images by NURBS

Dress: Complex Geometry; Shoes: Irregular Choices; Necklace: Indian Temple Jewelry

This past week has been crazy!! Reconnecting with tons of people from my old life and some new. Life is one crazy roller coster and I love it!! The necklace I am wearing is one of my favorites and always gets  a lot of attention. One of my closest friends gave it to me as a present. She has incredible taste for sure and I miss her like crazy!! The last time I wore it, I went to the A.Wang sample sale in NYC and one of the girls at the register said she loved it and that I should be very careful cause it might go missing before I walked out of the store. Needless to say I didn't find her to be funny.

Tried new things with light design in the pictures. Can you guys please tell NURBS how cool he is for trying this for the first time? He NEVER gives himself enough credit for ANYTHING. And I am going crazy trying to make him realize how talented he is!! You won't find anyone with a bigger and better heart than NURBS. He's a great guy. God bless him. Just wish he knew how good he is.

DSM's on Twitter and Facebook if you'd like to keep in touch.
