A new Attic Store in Mumbai: For Vogue India

Hey guys. I just wanted to introduce a super cool store in Mumbai called the Attic which just recently opened up a new branch in Colaba Mumbai. Attic is owned by the Attic RATS…R = Rixi, A = Amrita, T = Tinka and S = Shweta . Shweta and I used to train to run a Marathon together in NYC in I think 2007 or 2008. Yes people we have shed sweat together!! hehe... We anyway, I always loved Shweta's style and her store now is equally fab. If you in Mumbai do check out the cool new location. Here are a few pics of the opening that I put together for Vogue. In

I want to be Perfect: Personal Fashion

Images by NURBS

Kaftan: Beacon’s Closet [Thrifted]; Sandals: Inc 5 [Mumbai]

Last weekend a friend Ji did a little performance in the Brooklyn Flea Market. She wore a nude leotard and stood in the flea market with the sign, “ I want to be Perfect. Draw on me. Where should I get plastic surgery”. Here is my take on her project and what I think her project meant. Ji is Korean and like in a lot of other countries, Korean culture is also super obsessed with cosmetic surgery in the pursuit of happiness with self. This is Ji’s way to deal with her body’s imperfections and deal with her insecurities. Maybe even see how people in different parts of the world react to her body image. Having said that, I have to commend her on standing in the cold for so many hours and in THAT WIND!! It was crazy that day.You can check out more of Ji's Fab work here.

Oh and after reading a lot of your comments I do have confirm that most people who did write on Ji that day did say she didn't need any work and that she's perfect the way she is. I hope this project helps Ji figure out the battle she has with her own body image in her head like Dimi put it in the comments below. Well said Dimi. Your explanation is perfect. It's all in the head. The world doesn't care what you look like and loves and accepts you just the way you are :)... [BTW, I love such interaction and dialogue on an idea. Keep them coming people!! Lets hear from the world around what you think of this project].

Apart from supporting her with her project, I was thoroughly enjoying the flea market and that rusty airplane is my newest purchase. I heart!!

Thank You For your Patience: Personal Fashion

Dress: Pixie Market; Shoes: Irregular Choices

I bought this super fun maxi dress with the asymmetrical back from Pixie Market last week and I don’t want to take it off. I love how fun, roomy and sexy it is. Since I started wearing the bindi a lot my sister in India has been sending me bindis galore every opportunity she gets. Hence I have just been doing these fun experiments with them all over my face. A little experimentation results into all these cool effects that make me very happy. I wish I could actually do this for some magazine's styling concepts. SOMEONE HIRE ME TO EXPERIMENT PLS!!

I still cannot get over how incompetent photobucket is and that my entire blog is effed up due to them not knowing how to fix their system after a whole week of being down. Every 5 mins I check my blog to see if my images are back again and every 5 mins my mouth pukes out all the nastiest words in my brain’s ultra graphic and imaginative vocabulary. You REALLY REALLY don’t want to know what all it comes up with. But the point is that I just don’t know what to do. I email them every couple of hours, I tweet them every couple of hours. I get the same response, “We are working on it” and I just want to slap someone there for being such fucking idiots!! Ok I need to sign off now as you can see!! ☹

Manish Arora's Sparkly creations for Swarovski Up and Close: Vogue India

Images by Prutha Raithatha [via iPhone]

Until Photobucket figure out all their website issues, here is an interim post I did for Vogue India this week.

We have all heard about Manish Arora’s collaboration with Swarovski Elements to create some super cool accessories totally apt for a Valentine’s Day gift. They are pretty and cute heart shaped necklaces. But he also created a few fantastic pieces of clothing which were on display at the Swarovski showroom across my apartment in NYC. I went into the store to check out jewelry but ended up spending 30 mins just staring at Manish’s creations on the mannequins. There is a reason why the whole world is in awe of Manish’s work and it’s the absolute original [this word is very important to me] and over the top creativity his brains come up with as naturally as breathing [I imagine it is that easy for him in my mind..but in my mind I am also a queen of an underground world of tiny people + animals all dressed in a nothing-less-than-a-masterpiece they create themselves as their only goal in life to prove they are worthy of living in my kingdom].

I could not resist taking a few pictures of the fantastic pieces with permission of the shop people ofcourse. All of them have a lot of tiny Swarovski crystals on them which Manish uses in his collections a lot of times. In love with the Lion faces [I want them soo soo bad in my closet right now!!] and the Ganesh dress is beyond breathtaking. Apparently these pieces at Swarovski atleast, were not for sale. Yes I asked. I know, I know!! I can’t even afford the eye of the Tiger / Lion right now. But a girl can dream right?

Had a fab weekend doing nothing extra ordinary but just having fun with friends. Hope all you guys had a great weekend too.

BTW, Thank you all for reading my blog. This past few weeks I have received an overload of love from the most remotest of places and people and I am truly humbled. I am just having a great time expressing myself through this blog. So great to know that so many people are enjoying it as much as I am. BIG THANKU.

On the Bowery: Street Fashion

Images By Prutha Raithatha

I bumped into these kids in the subway one evening after work and Mike [Prom King] was wearing a jacket with lights on the back that twinkled as part of a space ship painted on his jacket. Ofcourse I couldn't go without asking for a pic. But I only had my iphone on me. So I asked if I could see them again. I say "them" cause they were in a group and all of them looked fantastic that day in the subway too and I wanted to shoot each one. Two days later, they were in the area attending an event and I met up with them after the evnt for a quick late night shoot.

Roxie [In the black velvet dress], Mike [In the denim Jacket], Sean [In the black Harem pants], Symone [in the pencil skirt] and Shean [with the glasses and crazy hair...I LOVE btw] are a bunch of people who I can guarantee always rock their looks. ALWAYS!! Love their individual styles and creativity with the accessories. Thanks again guys for posing for me. Much love!!

Note to self: No shooting in the night hence forth. Especially with little street light availability. This shoot could have been atleast 10 times better in the day. Oh well, I still had a blast doing it.
