Cats on My Back: Personal Fashion

Images by Hrishikesh Vimadalal

Hat: Meerwiibli by Sarah-maria; Shoes: Rick Owens; Everything else thrifted

This post consists of all of my favourite finds from the last couple of months. I paid $12.50 for that coat at a thrift store in North Carolina. Found this awesome princess Leia hat in Beacon, NY and this incredible tiger backpack online from some chinese website. The backpack is a conversation maker anywhere you go. It is huge and people can't help but talk about it, eye it and roll their eyes a bit when they see it. So if you do intend on getting one, just keep that in mind.

Also HAPPY FREAKING 2014 Y'all!! I have to take this moment to thank my fantastic photographers of 2013!

- Hrishikesh Vimadalal: who shot most of 2013 is absolutely fantastic!

- Jackie Russo: who helped me the entire 2012 and part of 2013, graduated this year from NYU with fantastic grades and I am super proud of her achievements!

- Shraddha Borawake: The original DSM photog/ artist extraodinaire

- Alison Wynn: The best-crazy-friend-photog combo

- Upasana Jain: Ex- DSM photog who moved to India and did a shot again this year when I was visiting India.

- Tamanna Shaikh

And thank you all for keeping up with me. Even when I don't post too regularly sometimes. 2013 was a stressful year and I am so glad it's over. You guys are the best and I am infinitely grateful for the love.

Lazy Sunday: Personal Fashion

Images by Alison Wynn

Dress: Kallol Dutta; Sweater: All Saints; Scarf: Diesel; Shoes: Underground UK; Ring: Manish Arora for Amrapali Jewels; Socks: Target

Kallol Dutta is a young Indian Fashion Designer who has a mouthful to say about all things fashion. He likes breaking rules [more like not following them] and speaking his mind about things that upset him about the industry. Luckily his designs are strong enough in their statement, creativity and originality that they support all his opinions about fashion in general and you can tell where he's coming from and what he means.

When I went to Indian in February I finally got a chance to meet him in person and place a couple of orders for clothes I had been eyeing from his previous collections. This white dress is one of them. It is already a spring/ summer staple and it is utterly befitting to my fashion aesthetic.

The Dog Days Are Never Over: Travel

Images by Prutha Raithatha

"Dogs on the Farm" series featuring Chandni the almost 1.5 year old farmer's daughter, 4 Puppies who's names I forgot, Shraddha in the brown, Chandni's mom in the pink saree, Alison in the green and Rafiquee the big Dog.

My favorites are when Chandni is showing the puppy an iphone and the last photo when she is holding her puppy like Shraddha is holding her dog Rafiquee.

Enjoy!

Darkess to Light: Personal Fashion

Images by Alison Wynn

Dress: Rodarte for Opening Ceremony; Shoes: Ashish for Topshop; Jacket: Topshop; Fur Hat: Zara Scarf

Cosmic variances should be applied to your imagination. I wake up today having an out of body experience. I am seeing everything trough love filled rose glasses which may or may not be super. I am happy. Unfulfilled by everything around me, yet utterly satisfied. The work is mundane, the typing on keyboards around is static and the constant white noise of traffic is beginning to sound like bjork which ofcourse makes me sway on the subway, close my eyes and feel. Have never been good at remembering or knowing things, especially history, so I don't know what era I traveled to, I know it isn't a definite one. I smell mahogany wood and cherry blossoms and the wind is filled with longing, anticipation and excitement. I keep moving through this huge Victorian castle, from door to door, to find myself going in and out of an opulent 19th century Victorian bedroom, [cozy, with gold and wood details, a warm wood burning fireplace and sheer curtains flanking a pair of humungous french doors designed by Gaudi leading to a stone balcony overlooking a valley], then through a tiny samurai practice room which is tall as hell, like an inverted well and has a cascading crystal chandelier hanging in it all the way up from infinity and then through a punk rocker's living room with red velvet, black leather, leopard print fur, dark lined eyes and tattoos, all done so classy. It's not confusing or strange at all to me. Infact it feels like home. My dream home. And I can experience the creative energy so strong inside of my stomach that I can't stop laughing. It's happiness I feel in my gut and I know you don't get it. Ofcourse you don't, it's not your happiness and it's not your gut. It's hard to leave this and come back to the stupid present. So maybe ill just stay here in my head. Forever. You are welcome to visit. Just click your gold shoes thrice.
