Need a Dog to Adopt Me: Personal Fashion

Images by Hrishikesh Vimadalal

Shorts: Comme Des Garcons; Sweater:From a shop in RI called Bananas; Shoes: Ashish for Topshop

This is what butch Frida Khalo might have looked like. Am I right?

This shoot has a few glimpses into my current life. (This is me telling my future self 10 yrs from now just for the record). Shot in my new apartment on the Lower East Side in Manhattan. I have longer hair now. The painting I'm holding in image 6 is my man's artwork he made from when he was a teenager. It's a self portrait and one of my favorite works of his. You can check out more of his work here.

I have a great new job and my office is in the Empire State Building. As an architect that is a huge deal for me. Always wanted to work in an iconic building. So a bunch has happened this year. All good to great things.

Hope everyone's looking forward to the holiday's coming up. Happy holidays to all!!

Beauty and the Beast: Personal Fashion

Images by Hrishikesh Vimadalal

Dress: Payal Khandwala; Shoes: Ashish for Topshop

There is an artist who used to live in my room a long time ago before I moved into my apartment. He is apparently very famous for his work now. Back when he was living in my room, there were times when he could not make rent and such times he would pay his rent in kind by giving my roomate some of his art work which she ofcourse accepted. The long poster you see behind me in the 3rd and 5th picture are one of his works paid instead of rent. This one called "I will not make anymore depressing art. I will not make anymore depressing art. I will not make anymore depressing art. I will not make anymore depressing art.....". I think he was going through an unbearable dark phase and thought if he could just etch the sentence in his brain he would probably remember to implement it the next time he painted. My roommate has a painting of flowers from the next time he was unable to pay rent. It was his way of being positive. Except that the painting was of dead daffodils.

Pink Friday: Personal Fashion

Images by Surfaraz Maner

Coat: All Saints; Tunic: got it Tailored in India some 10 yrs ago; Shoes: Ashish for TopShop

Life is fantastic. Ask why? Because the holiday season is here!! Thanksgiving 4 day break was so fulfilling, I can't tell you. It mostly involved eating, sleeping, going out with friends, art, eating more, sleeping more. This is life!!

I finally bought a winter jacket after probably 3-4 yrs of wearing the old ones. Even my friends were getting fed-up of them. But I just didn't like anything for so long. I finally found this quirky winter jacket with HUGE pockets designed to fit an iPad! I don't have an iPad yet [coz I spent the ipad money on this jacket] but maybe these big pockets can act like my stockings this year and my santa can fill them up ;) [why am I winking when I HAVE NO SANTA!!!]

Bumped into Ben on the street again. I love this guy. And the guy on the bike just joined in cause he wanted to. BTW he had no upper teeth and I have a pic of him showing it off here.

Gold Sold: Personal Fashion

Images by NURBS

Shorts, Purple top, Leopard Wedges: TopShop; Sweater: Zara; Gold kicks: Irregular Choices

I am obsessed with this sweater. It looks like an old grandmom sweater and that is why I can't seem to stop wearing it. The shorts and top are a cool blinged out combination. And you know me. To me, more is more [I shall tone it down and be subtle when I am old...mayyyybee]. The gold kicks are my newest most favorite possession ever. I have been wearing them nonstop too. At first I was kinda reluctant to wear them to my very conservative architecture/ real estate firm, but then I realized that my co-workers would have gotten used to me by now [with my red hair and other daily fashion shocks]. So I did it. I wore them to work :). Most people liked them, the others were sweet enough to say "they are totally you". I really appreciate that, I have to say. A million people don't get us but if they just let us be who we are without judgement or snarky comments, the world will be a better place.

Bumped into Subi Roberto, a cool miami artist, at the shoot who also had an Indian nose ring in her hotel room [the location is the front garden of a hotel in soho where she was put up] and while NURBS and I where shooting, ran up stairs and joined us in the end of our shoot for a quick nath [nose ring] photo. I love people who get excited about creativity.

Savage Beauty: Personal Fashion

Images by Upasana Jain

Dress: Complex Geometry; Shoes: Ashish for Topshop; Lace Unitard: AA

Just saw the McQueen Savage Beauty exhibit at the MET today. Everything that you have heard from every blog or website or newspaper is true. If you ever get a chance, you MUST see it. If you don’t come out of it feeling like every time you use the word “creative” in reference to yourself, you are lying, I will come see your exhibit next. Until then we all need to labor over our arts like bees and never look up from our desks. We have a long ass way to go man!! Lol… Perfection is an understatement for his works.

PS: Yes I did buy myself a mini Armadillo boot. A girl at the exhibit and I where debating on how much Daphne Guinness would charge us to just try on her Armadillo pair. We decided $2000 was fair trade. Beyond that, it would just be worth it for us to steal the pair and then get caught and pay bail.

PPS: My very fabulous and talented roomy has a new rock band called Plastic Spoon. They are playing next Wednesday at @ Littlefiled in Brooklyn. Come check them out. Click here for the details.

Pardon My French: Personal Fashion

Harem Shorts: Zara; Tee: Online; Shoes: Ashish for Topshop; Socks: Urban Outfitters; Bracelet: Aldo

Anything that adds humor to your life should instantly be embraced. At a happy hour my Marathon Team coach Anil walked into the bar wearing this tee and felt it absolutely essential to come and show it to me first. I guess he knew I would get it and be completely amused. I was. I still am, wearing my own tee now..lol

“Benchod” is a really bad word in Hindi [you can check the meaning here] loosely used in hindi slang like the word “A-hole” is used in slang English. I just find the tee toooo funny. I am sure the Hindi speaking Indians understand where I’m coming from. For those who don’t please pardon my French!! Xoxo
