Rain Drops and Trash Cans: Personal Fashion

This entire shoot had everything going against it. Amongst 8 other things [I counted] the biggest things were RAIN and lack of light. But Upasna made it work and how? BTW, that chair next to the garbage can was totally soaked in the rain when we found it and I sat on it!! ewwhh. But it was a perfect spontaneous setting and I had to use it. My sari, undies plus butt are at the dry cleaners right now for a massive disinfectant cleaning.

Wearing a sari I fell in love with on my last trip to India. I dig the idea of wearing it with a leather studded punk rock-ish vest and leopard wedges. The flattop just fit right for what I wanted to achieve with the look and don’t you agree that this is a much edgier way to wear a conventional sari? Now if only the stupid Mohawk worked [I wanted to style my hair in a Mohawk and for those who follow DSM on facebook and twitter know what a disaster that ended up being..lol]. Maybe when I actually get hired to style a shoot someday I can attempt it again. In the mean while this is way beyond perfection already. Thanks Upasna!!!

    Nope. Don't like it. It seems like too much of an effort to be different. the thing about this sari is has too much detail in itself and I think its getting lost somewhere. However, if you had a one color sari to go with that leather vest it probably would have made a different impact. Also, the beauty of the sari is the way it highlights a woman's shape... the bosom, the hips etc. which too I think is lost here.

    love the concept of madhatter meets streetwalker! as always amazed by how you think up totally disconnected elements which mesh so beautifully including the streetlights and colours meshing with the colours of your getup! and am loving how you have co-opted the bindi as your style statement in such a unique way!

    I love the photographs, and this "edgier" way of wearing a sari! The hat, the bindi, the umbrella, your energy, the moodiness of light and rain... everything is so dramatic and infectious and gorgeous! Aaah.

    However, I like Tina's point about the merits of a sari lying in the way it accentuates a woman's curves. Perhaps that could be addressed with a skimpier, smaller vest?

    But unadulteratedly lovely, nonetheless!

    What should I say about the combination you thought of.You are simply out of town who has thought of wearing a jacket instead of blouse with saree. the photography of it also adding many colors to it. Lovely dear.
