Dress: Anuj Sharma; Ring: Popley; Shoes: Ninewest borrowed from Jasleen of Fashion-Bombay; Ankle Bracelet: Colaba Causeway; Green Sleeve: Left over sleeve from another outfit.
So as I promised, this is the follow up on my Chor bazaar Part 1 post. You can see the fab dress by this incredible young Indian designer Anuj Sharma. You guys really have to check out his stuff. My dress is made out of 2 rectangular pieces of fabric and rubber bands tied around buttons. That’s it. It’s from his Button Masala collection.
As you can see from the pictures, Chor Bazaar had so many incredible tiny locations that we couldn’t pass up on. Every 3 steps Mariam and I walked we found a place we wanted to shoot in front of. But the whole experience was crazy. Please notice the number of people staring at us [it was a mob!!! Not kidding] in one of the shots. They followed us everywhere we went. Mobile phone picture taking and video recording included.
We got shooed out of a shop as the owner was rather conservative and probably thought I was a hooker dressed like I was in Chor bazaar …lol… At another location we had the shopkeeper chase a goat for us so that I could hold the goat in my picture [I really wanted to. I mean when do you ever get to hold a freaking GOAT!!]
At some point while we were shooting we heard one vendor ask another, “ Who is she?” and the other replied in Hindi, “ Arre yeh to woah Reshma hai Reshma” [Translation: Ohhh, she’s that girl Reshma, you know, Reshma] ..hehe… I have no freaking idea who this Reshma chic is but I guess they thought I was some TV/ movie actress or model whose name is Reshma. As far as I know there is no decent looking Indian celebrity with that name. And so I do not want to think about which Reshma these vendors where talking about. Might not be good for my self-esteem you know. Hehe.
This whole shoot was by far the most bizarre shoot I have done on this blog, mostly due to the location, environment and cultural values of the people around. It was a fantastic experience non the less all thanks to Mariam. And she couldn’t have captured the essence of this experience any better. I love you honey.
Hi Sweetie, I LOVE this white dress and the ring is TDF. Btw, thanks so much for your kind words :), for the boots, I saw Pixie Market sells the same ones but in burgundy (which is absolutely beautiful me thinks :)) http://www.pixiemarket.com/store/burgundywedges-p-2489.html, and as for the dress, unfortunately the shop where I got it from only had that one piece :)
ReplyDeleteOn other notes, I am drooling over your wardrobe, you've got so many amazing pieces, if only we were neighbours then we could raid each other's closet ha ha ha :)
Hugs babe

Sounds like a crazy and fun adventure. Only YOU could venture out on the streets o Chor Bazaar and do a photo shoot without being conscious or worried about the mob. Still loving the dress and sleeve! You ROCK! :)

Ps: I am hosting a charming scarf GIVEAWAY today, just in time for cozy Christmas!
Okay Prutha, I cannot even begin to agree more on this! I mean, I cannot even even begin to empathize. What I really mean is, I cannot end! There is no end because I feel the highest, possible amount, so mainly, infinite amount of deja vu!
ReplyDeleteMe and my friend were not even clicking any shots for the blog but it's that habitual posing that we're so used to and that's all and people were FLOCKING!! It really felt new in my own country but I loved it nevertheless. I agree with every word you have written here! (And yeah, that includes the dress, which is fantastic!)
I like the way your hair and everything looks so subtle in this post!
Wow some incredible images, the one with the man sleeping on the cart(?) behind you is especially stunning. And really, how did you keep such a natural look about you with such a crowd looking on?
ReplyDeleteThe 1st and 8th photo are my favorites. First because of the antique camera, and eight because of the contrast of yourself and the man behind you. Looking very elegant there in India.
ReplyDelete-Unyime
Hahahaha! I'm still reeling under the Reshma comment :D
ReplyDeleteYou look stunning! Love the addition of the green sleeve!
