Last friday Zana Bayne showed her leather harness collection in collaboration with Opening Ceremony at the Hudson River Park. The location couldn't have been better. Anything on the river is always perfect during the warmer months. It was a fun event with new people and old friends.

I have become quite detached from the world around me lately because I've been working like a recently turned mad person who doesn't know what to do with themselves except keep moving. hehe. As soon as I get my life back in order and back on track I'll be a little more present in the universe. Until then enjoy a glimpse into this cool project I did with my brilliant photog Hrishi last weekend. The stories in my mind while doing this project will be reviled when I post the entire project. Normally I always list the source of my outfits on my posts but this time I can't. I bought this dress from a local designer's market in Williamsburg and wore it for the shoot. Excited as hell because I really love the dress. Except it rained really hard during our shoot and along with each layer of makeup that washed away from my face so did this dress. I literally feel like my dress melted in the rain. The quality of the dress was atrocious and it ripped at multiple places so I can't really wear the outfit again. I still enjoyed getting totally drenched in the rain but this is why, even though I love supporting local designers, it's kinda hard to keep the faith as their creative ideas are amazing but execution extremely questionable. I have had this happen to me on multiple occasions with other things I have bought from local designers that look fabulous but break or rip in no time and they still cost quite a bit. Need to source good quality talent in and around the world. If you guys know any please send me a link to their work. 

Besides that life is pretty awesome right now. Good things are happening and I feel like I am growing up. It's fun!

Quickie: Personal Fashion

Sometimes forcing yourself to make a conscious effort to pick a different route in life than what would be an engraved psychological path set by your subconscious based on your history can be really difficult and scary. I am trying to experiment with a bunch of such "breaking of rules" or "conscious deviations from my default behavior" in my personal, professional and social life right now. I am unsure if I even need to try to break the mold as I don't see it as that dysfunctional and hence I am trying it in small doses just to see how it all works out. If I find myself doing more damage to self than before, I may come to the conclusion that I was doing it right the first time around. But I do want to make sure that I have tried a bunch of other different ways just for the heck of it. I am going to call these short experiments "Quickies". Yup psychology is slutty.

There is an artist who used to live in my room a long time ago before I moved into my apartment. He is apparently very famous for his work now. Back when he was living in my room, there were times when he could not make rent and such times he would pay his rent in kind by giving my roomate some of his art work which she ofcourse accepted. The long poster you see behind me in the 3rd and 5th picture are one of his works paid instead of rent. This one called "I will not make anymore depressing art. I will not make anymore depressing art. I will not make anymore depressing art. I will not make anymore depressing art.....". I think he was going through an unbearable dark phase and thought if he could just etch the sentence in his brain he would probably remember to implement it the next time he painted. My roommate has a painting of flowers from the next time he was unable to pay rent. It was his way of being positive. Except that the painting was of dead daffodils.
