Who's Going to Mars?: Personal Fashion

As soon as we got into a cab to go to this location the cabbie, instead of asking us where we were going, asked "Who's going to Mars?". Alison's response to that, "You guys have a problem going to Brooklyn! Damn right you're gonna take us to Mars!" Cabbie, "Brooklyn not so interesting. MARS I will take you anytime!" 

But it made me really happy that the cabbie asked the right question as that is exactly what I was going for. A si-fi outer space look because ever since we put Curiosity there, my brains somehow have been obsessed with the idea that Curiosity is probably, actually a 100 percent, my boy friend. Can you imagine how cool we will be together? He could literally show me the entire world and some parts of the universe. Above all since Men are from Mars and he is the only Man [gender assumed] who is on Mars, he has to be THE ONE! I want to make tiny Bionic robot babies with him! 

So we set out en route to Mars. My subconscious [which is often assertive] recommended that the only place that could have access to outer space is where extreme power and extreme death collide. The spirit of the dead is my supernatural connection to the outer world and the money is to pay for the technology to get me there and buy curiosity's love. This church in the financial district, right across the street from World Trade Center [ex and new] had to be it. I had found it. And now it is my time to be on my way to Mars to find love and adventure. The only question is should I use the creepy tree or the cab to get there? What do you recommend?

Moon boots for Earth: Personal Fashion

Anastasia's design for this black tuxedo dress reminded me so much of Rei Kawakubo's eccentricity  that I decided to style the whole look very Comme Des Garcon-ish. Turned a tweed jacket upside down over the asymmetrical waist-lined dress. The dress is definitely going into my work staple. You should check out more of her work here.

In other weekend news, I went kayaking on the Hudson for the first time and loved it. Found a new dumpling place in china town and have a new favorite. Did laundry. Hung out with friends. And stayed in today because I was forced to by a stupid cold. But had a decent weekend despite the cold and I cannot wait for the next weekend to arrive when I get to take a mini vacation to Vermont for 4 days. Everybody rejoice!

It's been a crazy couple of weeks and honestly I say that all the time now so I guess it's just been a crazy life overall. Went to Coachella last weekend and cannot tell you how much fun I had just being away from work, blogging and New York for 6 days. The music was insane and for me the highlight was to see Florence and the Machine perform up close and live! I love that woman! Finally got an opportunity to do a personal shoot and on a hunt for a cool location Ben and I were walking around the Bowery and stumbled upon The Hole art gallery which had an entire indoor French garden as an installation sponsored by Playboy.com with a pond and tiny fishes and willows and grass and the green bridge all inspired by Monet's estate. Artist E.V. Day was awarded the Munn Artists Residency to live on Monet's famous estate in Giverny and be inspired by the gardens that inspired Monet. She invited artist Kembra Pfahler to go along with her and create art. Kembra is an iconic performance artist who's art attire is basically her naked body painted in red, a huge wig and some stripper boots. E.V's work is best known for her refracted photography. The collaboration is insane and if you are in NY you must check it out at The Hole! Just to give you a glimpse here is a picture from the exhibition which was hung around the indoor garden that the gallery kindly allowed us to use as our shoot location.

That guy in the military long jacket on his skate board is my favorite part of this shoot. His look was such a contradiction to his activity, it worked perfectly with the DSM philosophy.

I saw this kind of chemical processing of images done by a photog friend Wayne [who shot this for DSM earlier] and wanted to try it one time on DSM. Jackie pulled this rabbit out of her hat and I am beyond excited with the result. Art, I say, is so fulfilling.

Am in love with my custom cat and bird skull necklace from OS accessories. It's heavy but totally worth it. Don't worry they are not real skulls, they are made out of some high quality polyurethane. But yeah this necklace did have all eyes rolling at me during fashion week and I loved it. It's fun for me to know in my head that people think I am a "Bad-ass" by looking at my attire when in fact I am quite the opposite. So much so that I can't even watch a trailer of Paranormal activity in passing or else will have to sleep with my lights on the entire night..lol..

Shhh.... No one needs to know.
