Meshing Around: Personal Fashion

Images by Anjali Bhargava. BTW, How freaking insane are these pictures? I love them Anjali!!

Mesh Tunic: H&M; Scarf worn and turban: India; Skirt: Got it made in India; Top/ Shoes: Random from India

Sometimes the tiniest of creative ideas make me feel like I am right up there next to Einstein in the genius category. Not below him, not above him, right next to him. Im not too greedy that way…hehe.. So yeah about my brilliant idea, I have a pair of earrings a friend gifted to me for my birthday last year, forgetting a minute detail that I don’t have my ears pierced and hence I don’t wear earrings..hehe. But they are gorgeous earrings and I love them. So I decided to wear them differently. One as a broach on my turban coz broach on the outfit is too normal. And I stuck the other one onto my chain necklace to make it an asymmetrical necklace… hurray!! Now you agree I’m a genius? You have to… u must!!

Ok moving on to the rest of the outfit, I found this crazy mesh thing at H&M and had to have it ofcourse. I wore it this whole weekend at the beach over my bathing suit and I think I could see the entire jersey mom community’s eyeballs popping out. Made be laugh.

FYI, this was my first decent weekend getaway in ages!! Have been working soo much and soo hard, I needed this. Feeling totally zen right now!!

Kisses to everyone!! Hope you guys had a brilliant weekend too.

That Face: Street Fashion

Images by Prutha Raithatha

Top: Ladies at the cannon; Shorts: Lip Seal London; Shoes: Phil Robin

Walking around the city checking out fun festivals everywhere is the best part about summer. At one such festival I spotted Jen and I couldn’t take my eyes off of how pretty here face was. You know I love bald women by now with some previous posts, but this just reinforces my love for them. There is just something so strong about the image they portray in saying “I don’t need hair to look pretty. I am beautiful regardless”.

Love the look that she wore too. The beautiful striped feminine top with the high waisted denim shorts. Ah summer, never leave me!!

Are we Human or are we Dancers?

Images by Prutha Raithatha

Blazer: Thrifted with DIY to make it a Mariner's Jacket; Tee: Gift from a friend; Pants: Topshop; Shoes: Angelo Cellini

I love this kid. Much more than his cool sense of style I was attracted to his free spirit. Met him at a party at my loft and I am telling you people, he was something else. He was dancing to his own tunes, didn’t care what was happening around him and was just moving to the music and letting his body do what it wanted. Just the kind of trance you need to let yourself be in once in a while I feel. Was a freaking awesome party but even better coz I had the opportunity to meet someone like Ivemil.

Eden’s Dead Garden: Personal Fashion

Dress/ Boots: All Saints; Skull Necklace: Evolution; Purse: H&M

Welcome to the darkside!! ..lol… Couldn’t even finish typing that with a straight face..hehe. Yeah I am not the dark type but I have to say I have always been fascinated with skulls. I have had skull things in my closet for many many years and I just don’t get the fascination. But I guess I don’t have to psycho analyze everything in life right? So am just letting it be. But how can you not like this beautiful freaking neckpiece. It totally reminds me of Guns and Roses except this is “Skulls and Roses”.

It’s just a freaking coincidence that for this shoot we were walking to a location I had picked but stumbled upon this beautiful tiny garden along the way. It fit the dark theme perfectly with the grey wall and the happy and sad face [reminding me of Hamlet] and the dead roses. Ok so maybe I do have a tiny bit of a dark side, but there is some beauty in morbid stuff too I feel.

I am totally and utterly in love with All Saints as I have told you guys before. This dress is the perfect example of my kinda summer dress. Asymmetrical collar, who would have thought!! I love it. Oh and I bought 2 other skull tees from there…. I know, I know…I am taking it too far…hehe…but I am obsessed!!! [PS: Don’t tell my mom!! She’ll probably demand to have me imported back to India and get me to bathe in the Ganges for liking skulls]

From 2 blocks away we could spot Irvin in his orange scarf. I just thought it was a very interesting color of men to wear with a jacket so had to shop him. Love the shoes and just the whole look overall for doing fun semi-casual menswear.

Sari Yaar: Personal Fashion

Images By Anjali Bhargava

Sari/ Clutch: From Bombay; Skull Ring: Alexander McQueen; Shoes: Aldo; Peacock Feather Pin: Macy’s

I have been dying to do a post on a sari. Sari is the Indian traditional outfit for women. I would not wear it on a day to day basis due to plain practical issues like it will take me years of training to be able to drape one around me in less than 30 mins and even longer to train myself to run in a sari after trains and buses..hehe… yes it’s the truth about my life that I have finally made peace with: I am always running! And sadly it’s always after public transportation. ..lol..Hence I thought it would be apt to have these pics be taken in an NYC subway station.

Someday I wish to be able to go to work [in NYC] in a sari if I feel like it every once in a while. Mental Note: Have to find an employer cool enough…lol.. But why not I say. My wish right?

Since this sari is quite a formal piece with a lot of elaborate antique embroidery on it, I didn’t want to accessories it too much.  Just one cocktail ring and that’s it. FYI, this is never the case with actually Indian formal attire. We Indians believe in more is more and normally wear extravagant jewelry with such saris.

So just cause I have a twisted head, I decided to club my “Sati Savitri” – look [Good girl look] with a huge skull McQueen ring. BTW, I love this ring sooo much I want my engagement ring to be just this!!! Now all I need is to find a boy to marry me J

PS: This was one of the funnest shoots ever. The sari got way too much attention.

Mountains and Insects: Street Fashion

Images by Shraddha Borawake

Dress: Beacon’s Closet; Necklace: street; Rings and Shoes: Thrifted

Joanna/ Asia [yes, she has 2 first names. trust me, I asked 3 times] is on her own fashion adventure of sorts. It’s incredible for me to spot a particular thing that I have never seen before on someone else, like her necklace. It was soo cool to me and even more because I had never seen anything like it before. I love discovering.

When we spotted her, I pointed to her that she had something on her face. And she asked me, “Is it a booger? I just spent 10 mins talking to a really cute boy right before I met u girls with a booger on my face?.. Crap!!..Well atleast now I know why he won’t call…lol”. In the middle of the hysterical laughing fit we were having I confirmed to her that it wasn’t a booger and was just maybe her eyeliner or something smudged. Some people just have it all I tell u…the look, the personally and the heart to be unafraid. Adored her and her look.
