Kay Unger: Street Fashion

Images by Shraddha Borawake

Dress: Paul Smith; Shoes: Vintage Manolo Blahnik ; Sunglasses: Phoebe Couture; Bangles: Alexis Bittar; Purses: Chanel; Hat: Found on the streets of Paris a long long time ago.

Blessed are the streets of New York. If you actually try to find out, you will know that you walk amongst amazing talent all around you at all times. You just didn’t know it before.

How crazy is it that we bumped into the famous fashion designer Kay Unger in Soho. Ofccourse I stopped her because of her attire and that fabulous hat. But honestly I spent like 20 mins talking to her. I just wanted to know everything about her, so I took my time. S very sweetly, watched me get my Fashion “gyan” [knowledge] from Kay. Kay couldn’t have been sweeter.

Kay actually when to Parsons for Fashion Design with Tim Gunn and graduated in 1968. And she has 2 labels: Kay Unger and Phoebe Couture. Both sold at places like Neiman Marcus, etc. And finally, I have to say; meeting a lot of people randomly on the street has been a fantastic learning experience I will cherish forever.

A Stylist’s Style: Street Fashion

Glasses: Martin Margiela; Shirt: Seven; Pants: Alexandre Herchcovitch; Jewelry: Vintage; Bracelet: Balmain ; Watch: Nixon; Leather Rope Bracelet: Bottega Veneta

Just look at the number of things I have listed above. It’s all in the DETAILS. Felipe is a stylist from Brazil and I can see how he would make a great one. He has the eye for details. Every single thing he was wearing had a purpose of being there. Love all the pieces and how he put them together. The shirt is so incredibly fun with the tag on the back. Love the sunglasses. And notice the 2 safety pins he was wearing on his tee in the 3rd pic? It was there for fun but I’m sure also serves him the purpose of having them handy while he’s working. I just think it is such a cool idea to wear safety pins as an accessory. Just coz I like them ;-) ...and the full grown beard!!!

Complex Geometry: Personal Fashion

Dress: Complex Geometry; Shorts: BCBG; Shoes: Anish for Topshop; Safety pin Key Chain worn as Necklace: Aldo; Elephant Ring: Macy’s

I am an architect you know. So when I discover clothing lines that call themselves “Complex Geometry” I can’t even help myself from wanting to atleast check them out. This time I wasn’t even disappointed. I ordered this dress from their online store and for the first time was not disappointed by my online purchase [FYI, I hate shopping online just cause what you see online is never as good as what you get in the mail. But since Complex Geometry didn’t have a NY store I had no choice. Thank god the outfit is perfect!!]

I love how weird this dress is. Its utter genius if you ask me. What’s the fun in normal I say. Since the dress itself is so different I couldn’t accessorize it with pretty. Hence the huge safety pin worn as a necklace [S, called it a diaper pin…lol…] and the wild hair and my cheetahs. Yes I like going all out.

Taken a detail of the red eye makeup I am in love with lately. Just cause I like that it is a color not many wear on their eyes.

Had such a full weekend!! I need some sleep!!! Off now…where’s my bed…zzzzzzzzzzz

XOXO Gossip Girl: Street Fashion

Dress: Label by Laura Whitcomb; Necklace: Bloomingdales; Sandals: Steve Madden; Bag: Topshop ; Sunglasses: CK

Just cause she totally reminds me of Blaire Waldorf from Gossip Girl. Doesn’t she? When your dressed just to take your dog out for a walk on a Sunday morning and to get some coffee and visit a book store along the way, this is how you look comfortably chic. Not over done at all but very well composed. And when not wearing Chanel I guess Coco [her dog] is her best accessory. Loving COCO!!!!

Top That: Street Fashion

Photography By: Mariam Mamaji

Jacket/ Pants: Muji ; Shoes: Catskills Mountain Moccasins ; Top hat: 26TH Street Flee Market

Meet Gerald, a typical NYC artist. Can’t you just tell looking at his attire? I can. He actually bought these pants in black. Didn’t like the color, so bleached them and then dyed them brown. Since I am completely incompetent when it comes to any DIYs I find this to be very cool. Loving the Lennon glasses, the top hat and the funky boots. The boots almost look animated to me. Overall a super cool look per me.

Blown Away: Personal Fashion

Images By: Renuka Sawhney

Dress: Zara; Shoes: Patrizia Pepe Firenze; Scarf: Goa, India; Bag: Pylones

This post is called blown away cause when we took these pictures; it was undeniably the windiest day of the year. I promise. My friend Renuka and I were wandering about and decided to go to the Highland [which is an elevated park next to the Hudson River] to take some pictures. We took atleast a hundred in order to get 5 right shots. Lol.. I am not exaggerating. Nonetheless, it was a lot of fun.

Bought this khaki Lenin dress from Zara and its so super comfy for the summer. Love mixing it up with some scarfs, this one being one of favorites because of the color. And yes, the bag is purely for the humor. It always gets me more than a few looks in the subway whenever I am carrying it around.. hehe…and that entertains me beyond belief. Totally worth the investment.

I went to Boston for the long weekend and had a great time!! Really needed the break. Hope all you pretty people out there had an equally eventful weekend :)

xoxo
